Wine's
Ancestors
The history of wine is as old as human history. For that reason
wine has had a great influence between civilitations who have learnt to make and
appreciate it. Prehistoric man knew perfectly how to make wine and
paleonthologists have found fosils that seem to have been wine residues or
pressed grapes. The oldest human writings, including day panels from Babilonia
or papyrus in Ancient Egipt, contain a great variety of references to the grape.
The importance of wine through history
The christian civilization has transmited to us the symbolic
concept of the creation of wine by Noam. In spite of that the manufacturing of
wine was started in the Middle East and China 3000 years before Jesuschrist. One
of the best known vines in pharaonic years was Kankomet, which was
grown in Ramses III vineyard (1998-1167 b.C.). This wine is mentioned more than
200 times in the Bible, and the fact that Jesuschrist chose it as an important
part of the main ritual of christian cult reflects the extraordinary importance
wine had Jewish people during that time.
Wine and healt
The
wine qualities that man has made through history, would probably be considered
less to middling what we demand now. Until XIX century, many of the wines
consumed were always wines of the same year because of difficulties of
conservation. It is possible to say that thanks to Pasteur modern Enology was
born, which is like wine medicine. Wine is and will be an authentic partner of
man through time, because an honest wine is happiness for heart and peace for
the spirit, and mediterranean gones in which civilization and stocks grown will
pressure ths enological heritage.
Wine is a perfect energy fountain and it is easly assimilated by our own body.
Wine provides 80 calories x 0.100 l. These calories that wine provides are used
by our body. For the general maintenance and for muscular energy. If wine
affects human longevity is unknown. In spite of that, stadistical studies have
shown that moderated drinkers are the longest lived, more than teetotal and
those who drink excessively.
In mediterranean countries, diet is characterized by containing
food like olive oil, pulses, blue fish, vegetable fibre and above all a
moderated consumption alcoholic drinks of low alcohol percentage. All these
factors inside mediterranean diet have determined that countries who have it
have less cardiovascular illnesses and different types of cancer in relation to
northern countries.
Wine contains different types of vitamins. These vitamins help
in a complementary way to the vitaminic needs of our bodies.
Vitamin C is found in the unfermented grape juice and during the
fermentation process, but it dissappears later. In spite of that, the addition
of vitamin C to wine is usual and authorized nowadays, before being bottled, to
preserve its qualities. Vitamin A is found in less quantities. In spite of that,
different tipes of vitamin B are found. Wine also contains less quantities of
iron and that's because it is recommended in anaemic cases.
While there are men on the Earth, it is very probable that the
taste for wine will continue, year to year through complicated and still ignored
biological processes, thanks to the taste man has been collecting between its
brenches; the mistery of life.
