"Marco Polo" Comprehensive School in Cardito serves Carditello's people particularly (Carditello is a part of Cardito). People already arrive lowly selected by two basics reasons: a) the school is far from the center of town, b) it's depended by a kind of margination as to other bordering towns and the same Cardito, too. Carditello has no urban and social infrastructures; it has no decentralized services, for that it needs to apply the other towns. It is not linked with means of public transport. The social background is founded on the work and commerce of farm products and on several small factories to family management. The survival is bound by the black work and juvenile work. Besides this, there is an increase of unemployment and criminal association. The situation, together to the instability of the local administrations are the cause of the social and environment conditions of the territory: pollution and illegal building, besides to the absence of a political line in support of educational, health and welfare agencies. Consequently, the school, in this particular environment acts a welfare agency. Infact it's difficult to make a relation between the school and the families, and there is no connection between teachers and social institutions. The school is only point of reference as educational agency, but as society of adults, too. It adopts special strategies and right interventions to reinforce its presence on the territory. In comparison with our Project, the school has expected a differentiation of the formative offer, potentiating the pupils who - for skills and engagements - can change in positive and imitable leaders.
