Gymnazium belongs to the oldest schools in Spis. In 1996 it
was 130 years since the first school-leaving examination was held in our school.
The year 1998 is the year of the 75th anniversary of our school nationalization.
You will read about interesting history of our school, as well as about its life
today
Orientation of the School:
Gymnazium is a general-educational school with 4 years of
study. The students study foreign languages - English, German, French and
Russian - they get principle knowledge in social and natural-historical
sciences, they learn how to operate a computer and in an optional subject
Driving Course they even learn how to drive a car.
Since the school year 1990/91 our school has enabled students to prepare to
university study in a wide range of elective subjects that can be elected from
the second grade. Every April proposals of elective subjects are announced for
the following school year, with their thematic orientation and requirements for
passing. Students elect one subject in the second grade, three subjects in the
third grade and five subjects in the fourth grade. It is up to them to decide
for either social science or natural history seminars and practices. English
conversation is enriched with the possibity to communicate with an English or
American lecturer. Study in our school finishes with a school-leaving
examination in Slovak Language, Mathematics or a foreign language, and two
elective subjects. Interest in studying in our school is great every year. But,
of course, only the best students pass the demanding entrance tests in Slovak
Language and Mathematics.
The school reaches high percentage of success at entrance examinations to
universities, what can be proved by statistics of our school. We also want to
present extra-curricular activities in our school, our friendly contacts and
success.
