High Comprehensive School "Braća
Radić" – Djakovo was founded in 1960 as High Economy School and only
137 students attended it in four classes (two first and two second grades).
About 800 students attend this school today in 25 classes of different courses
in the field of economy and trade (economists, administrators, commercialists
and shop-assistants) as well as of construction of machines (machine technicians).
There are about 50 teachers working in this school.
The school is situated in the centre of Djakovo. There is a little park around
it where the students relax and have good time when they are free. Attached to
school there are also large sport playground and gym where the students can take
in various sports during lessons of Physical Education as well as in some extra
curriculum activities such as handball, football volleyball, athletics, etc. No
wonder then that in our sport club ECOST you can find excellent teams which gain
remarkable results on different competitions even on the state level.
There are also other extra curriculum activities such as journalism, drama and
literary work. On the other hand there is a group of qualified students
practicing radiotelephony. Apart from regular curriculum, special programs for
advanced and gifted students in bookkeeping, stenography, mathematics, foreign
languages and Croatian language, so our students gain remarkable results on
different state competitions which we are proud of (bookkeeping and accounting
4th, 7th and 11th position in Croatia, stenography 1st and 2nd position; and on
the competition The Perfect Economist 4th position in Croatia).
The students regularly meet at Students Council where the representatives of the
classes talk and discuss current problems in school and with the Headmaster and
professional pedagogue as well as with other teachers make important decisions
for the school benefit.
By the end of each school year sport competitions between students and teachers
are organized and in that way we contribute to manifestations for the World's
Health Day. Every year we travel to different towns in Croatia and to other
countries trying to learn more about new places, people and their cultures.
Our school is making progress in many ways. We are very proud of attending it
because we cooperate with our teachers in everything, we have our rights which
are respected, and this is where we feel very much at home. |
