Easter dishes
Back Up

Easter is one of the most important Christian holidays, which is not celebrated every year at the same time – it is always on the first Sunday after the first spring full moon, this is between March 22nd and April 25th.
On Saturday Christians take special dishes in a nicely decorated basket to the church where the priest bless them.
These dishes are:
- Horseradish  it is a symbol of tacks, which were used for crucifying Jesus on the cross
- Eggs  they are a symbol of Jesus's resurrection; before we take them to the church we paint and decorate them
- Smoked ham and sausages it is a symbol of Jesus's body; sausages
- Bread
- Potica  special Slovenian cake

On the following Sunday we eat this food for breakfast.
