In Ireland Christmas is a time for celebration and feasting
Traditionally the main course was Goose or Duck as these were plentiful in the countryside! Nowadays many people prefer Roast Turkey to Goose.

The following is a very popular Christmas dinner menu in Athenry, Ireland
Starters:
Cold Fish plate
Turkey and Vegetable Soup
Fruit - Melon sliced with brown sugar
Main Course:
Stuffed Roast Turkey and Baked Ham with roast and creamed Potatoes and a variety of vegetables including Brussels Sprouts, Broccoli, Carrots and Parsnips served with Bread Sauce, Gravy, Mustard and Cranberry Sauce.
Third Course:
Homemade Plum Pudding flambé (Brandy flame) with Custard or White Sauce
Desert:
Mince Pies with Brandy Sauce or Custard
Irish Coffee served with a slice of homemade Christmas Cake
