I like to help my mother cook the Turkey for the
Christmas dinner
We pluck, clean out, wash and dry the turkey. We put some
vegetables (onions and herbs) around the carcass in the roasting dish and then
spread butter on the breast for flavor. We put a few bacon rashers on it also to
keep the skin from burning.
We cover it with tinfoil and then put in a preheated oven for 20 minutes per lb.
and 20 minutes extra. So a 10-lb turkey would take 3 hours and 40 minutes.
Many people stuff the turkey with Bread Stuffing but my mother prefers to make
it separately!
We serve the Turkey with baked ham and delicious creamed potatoes.
I always like to get a drumstick (leg).
