Plum Jam

This is how my mother makes Plum Jam from the wild plums we gather in the fields - Enda

 

Ingredients:
3kg (6Ib) plums
1 litre (1.3 quarters pt) water
3kg (6Ib) sugar

Method:
1. Wash fruit, remove stones and cut in half.
Crack some stones and remove kernels.
2. Place plums, kernels, and water in a pan and simmer for half an hour or until soft.
3.
Add warmed sugar, stirring until dissolved and boil rapidly until setting point is reached.
4. Pour jam into warm jars seal and label.
