prepare for Shrove Tuesday
Ingredients:
Soup:
1 kg beef with bone
water
salt
allspice
1 yellow onion
2 ¼ dl yellow peas
3 tbsp barley grain
4 carrots
Lump dough:
6 dl weatflour
½ l milk
salt & sugar
½ dl raisin
1 tbsp cardamom (not ginger)
Instructions:
Boil the beef, water, salt, allspice and onion in advance. The onion must
cook entirely apart. Put the yellow peas and the barley grain to soak the day
before. The next day bring the clear soup to the boil. Add the peas and the
barley grain mix along with the carrots cut in slices. Cook the peas until soft,
(it will probably take a couple of hours). For the lump dough mix all the
ingredients together to viscous dough. The dough will rise which will make the
lumps incredibly soft and nice. Add the lumps into the soap and let them cook
until they float up on top. At last add the beef. Parsley is scattered over the
soap directly over the plate.
