He was born in 1936 in the village Novačka in the poor peasant's family. He attended elementary school in Gola. Having heard what was going on in Hlebine he followed example of Ivan Večernaj, another painter from Gola, and stareted painting. He doesn't paint a lot, mainly during winter when there aren't so many works on the farm. He paints village events in expresive form, which sometimes acquire grotesque mime, mainly because of his favourite theme – people in action. His colours vary from the coloristic noise to harmony of decorative relationship. His best paintings are his portraits, although he is well known for his idilic winter «postcards» and scenes from everyday life in the village. Although he is still very active and enthusiastic, he belongs to the first generation of Croatian naive painters.
